Where to buy persimmon soap in Sweden: pharmacies, shops and online

Heard about Japanese persimmon soap, also called kaki soap, and wondering where to buy it in Sweden? Many people try a pharmacy or department store first. We searched several of the chains where people in Sweden usually buy soap and skincare. Ranges change: this is based on our searches of each chain's online shop on 2 October 2026, not physical stores, and availability can differ between stores and over time, so ask in your own store if you want to be sure.

What is persimmon soap?

Persimmon soap contains extract of Japanese persimmon, the fruit also called kaki in Sweden. The fermented, tannin-rich juice of unripe fruit, kakishibu, has been used in Japan for centuries (see our article on the history of kakishibu). Many people look for it to help wash away a stubborn body odor that ordinary soap can leave behind, often linked to a compound called nonenal. Our persimmon soap guide and our article on nonenal explain more.

Pharmacies

Searches for persimmon, kakishibu and kaki soap in the online shops of Apoteket, Apotek Hjärtat and Kronans Apotek returned no persimmon soap. Apotea returned only a persimmon-flavored toothpaste, not a soap. A single pharmacy may differ, so ask the staff.

Lyko, Åhléns and ICA

Lyko returned a lip tint and a fragrance line with persimmon in its name, including candles, hand cream and a liquid hand wash, not the kind of persimmon-extract bar this article is about. Our searches on Åhléns returned no hits. ICA's online shop shows stock per store; the one store we checked had fresh kaki fruit but no persimmon soap, so check your local store.

Amazon.se and other online shops

Amazon.se lists many persimmon and kaki soap bars from different brands and marketplace sellers; at least one listing says it contains kakishibu extract and is made in Japan. Ingredients and quality vary by seller, so read the label, check who is selling, and be wary of big promises. The same applies to other online shops and marketplaces.

How to choose

  • Persimmon extract actually listed, usually as Diospyros kaki.
  • A full ingredient list (INCI) on the pack, which cosmetics sold in the EU must carry.
  • Gentle ingredients such as oils, shea butter and glycerin.
  • Reasonable claims: a soap helps wash away odor.
  • A clear seller, shipping cost and returns policy.
  • Price per bar including shipping, not just pack price.

Frequently asked questions

Do pharmacies sell persimmon soap?

We found none in the online shops of the four pharmacy chains we checked on 2 October 2026. Ranges change, so ask your local pharmacy.

Is KAKIORA in any shop in Sweden?

No. It is sold only through our own website and delivered to your home.

Are kaki soap and persimmon soap the same?

Yes. Kaki is the Japanese name for persimmon.

What does shipping to Sweden cost?

A flat 35 kr on one-off orders; subscription deliveries ship free. The exact cost is always shown at checkout.

Is persimmon soap a medicine?

No. KAKIORA is a cosmetic product, not a medicine. It is made for daily washing and helps wash away odor. If your skin is very sensitive or you have a skin condition, try it on a small area first and stop if irritation occurs.
