Heard about Japanese persimmon soap, also called kaki soap, and wondering where to buy it in Finland? Many people start with a pharmacy or a big store. Here is what we found when we checked in October 2026, and what to look for so you get a soap that actually contains persimmon.
Persimmon soap contains extract of the Japanese persimmon (kaki) fruit. In Japan, the tannin-rich juice of unripe persimmons, called kakishibu, has been used for generations. Persimmon tannin soaps are made for people who want a daily soap that helps wash away nonenal, the oily compound linked to the stale smell some people notice on skin and clothes from their 40s onwards. You can read more in our guide Nonenal explained.
KAKIORA is not sold in Finnish pharmacies. If you prefer to buy from a pharmacy, ask for a soap that lists persimmon extract (Diospyros kaki) on its ingredient list. A soap that only has a persimmon scent will not contain the tannins.
A search for "kaki saippua" in Tokmanni's online shop returned ordinary hand soaps and bar soaps, not a persimmon soap. On Lyko's Finnish site, a search for "persimon" returned candles, a hand lotion with a persimmon fragrance and lip tints, not a persimmon tannin soap.
Many Finnish shoppers order from European Amazon sites. Amazon.se, for example, lists several persimmon and kaki soap bars from different brands and marketplace sellers. Quality varies, so check the ingredient list before you buy.
